Medical Update Before The Girona Game

Possible lineup for tomorrow's Girona game

Squad news and possible starting XI for Barcelona's trip to Girona

Squad news

Barça travel to Catalonia to face Girona on Saturday at 9pm CET. The squad trained for the final time on Friday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva before flying out to Girona in the afternoon. Ronald AraĂºjo, Sergio Busquets, Ousmane DembĂ©lĂ© and Pedri are all ruled out through injury. Alejandro Balde is suspended, while Gavi is a doubt after missing training on Friday with a minor issue.

Possible starting XI

With so many players unavailable, Xavi is likely to make changes to the team that started against Cadiz. Marc-André ter Stegen will continue in goal, with Jordi Alba, Andreas Christensen, Jules Koundé and Sergi Roberto forming the back four. Frenkie de Jong, Franck Kessie and Gavi (if fit) will be the midfield three, with Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Ansu Fati in attack.

An alternative option would be to start with a back three of Christensen, Koundé and Ronald Araujo, with Alba and Roberto as wing-backs. This would allow Xavi to field an extra midfielder, such as Pablo Torre or Sergi Roberto.

No matter what team Xavi selects, Barcelona will be confident of getting a result against Girona. The Catalans have won their last three matches against their Catalan rivals, including a 4-1 victory at the Estadi Montilivi last season.
