Southgate Sancho Training

Jadon Sancho impresses in training, says Gareth Southgate

Southgate has named a large 33-man training squad as England sweat over the fitness of several players.

Sancho has responded to Southgate's comments about his performance in England training as "a challenge".

England manager Gareth Southgate has said that Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has impressed in training and is "in a good place" ahead of the upcoming international break.

Southgate has named a large 33-man training squad as England sweat over the fitness of several players, including Harry Maguire, Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford.

Sancho, who joined United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, has struggled to find his best form at Old Trafford, but Southgate believes he is starting to show his potential.

"Jadon has come in and trained very well," Southgate said. "He's in a good place. He's still adapting to a new club and a new league, but he's a very talented player and we're looking forward to seeing what he can do for us."

Sancho has responded to Southgate's comments by saying that he is "delighted" to be back in the England squad and that he is "ready to give everything" for his country.

"It's always an honour to be called up to the England squad," Sancho said. "I'm delighted to be back and I'm looking forward to working hard and helping the team achieve our goals."

Southgate's comments are a boost for Sancho, who has been criticized for his performances at United.

The England manager's faith in the 21-year-old could give him the confidence he needs to rediscover his best form.
